Developed by CS GROUP, CRIMSON Defence is the military variant of the CRIMSON product suite purpose-builtfor the command and control of critical operations.
Engineered for the most demanding missions and complex environments from space to subsea domain, CRIMSON leverages the common technology backbone of the entire CRIMSON range, enhanced with domain-specific modules dedicated to command and force coordination, including MUM-T and autonomous robotic systems.
CRIMSON Defence shares with the other variants of the suite the high-performance capabilities that have driven its operational success, from the protection of critical infrastructures to the command of civil protection missions, and that earned it the European Commission’s 2025 Security Innovation Award for the safety of the European Union.
Operational Challenges
CRIMSON Defence enables the creation, visualisation, and sharing of a digital twin of the theatre of operations and the systems deployed within it, in support of information superiority. It also delivers advanced, intuitive decision-support and command capabilities, significantly enhancing decision-making and operational superiority across a wide range of military applications. Thanks to its modular architecture, CRIMSON offers a number of extensions to adapt the capbilities of the system to the particularities of each user.
To achieve this, the solution provides a multi-domain Common Operational Picture for 360° situational awareness and supports seamless multi-site collaboration across all three levels of command: strategic, operational and tactical.
The solution's strength lies in its ability to unify and orchestrate heterogeneous systems and entities in a consistent manner, across a variety of operational contexts:

Functionalities
Data Centric, Modular & Highly Interoperabile by design
Based on a data-centric architecture for both data management and security, CRIMSON Defence enables multi-source data fusion, as well as intuitive and secure management, exploitation, and sharing of information, according to access rights and need-to-know.
These capabilities are further enhanced by embedded Artificial Intelligence, through the following features:
- Enhanced situational awareness: Multi-domain 2D/3D COP, easily enriched and editable, extended to the digital twin of the theatre; multi-sensor fusion; Blue Force Tracking; military symbology; and dynamic Attribute Based Access Control and “need-to-know” management.
- Operational tools: Digital shared logbook, chat, tracking of operational capabilities, hybrid AI engine for decision support, replay capability for after-action review (AAR), event management, resource management, task acknowledgment
- MUM-T and autonomous systems orchestration: AI-powered orchestration, fusion and tasking engines, support of interoperability standards (ROS, MAVLink, STANAG 4817...)
- Interoperability and NATO standards: Native interoperability through domain-specific standards and protocols (tactical data links L16/L22, STANAG 4609, AdatP-3, NVG, CoT, etc.).
- Dual-use system: 360° security continuity support, from population and critical infrastructures to territories, with interoperanility with crisis management systems and native compatibility (e.g., maritime and air traffic tracking via AIS and ADS-B, EDXL...)
- Sovereign technical foundation: Entirely developed in France, CRIMSON integrates the high-performance digital twin engine VirtualGeo (by CS GROUP), ensuring full technological autonomy for the visualization of all cartographic, architectural, geospatial, and technical data related to the theatre of operations, across any domain.

At the far edge, it runs on constrained platforms with limited bandwidth, leveraging embedded AI and smart data synchronisation to keep isolated autonomous platforms connected to your forces.
